L’église Notre-Dame de Royan est un chef d’œuvre de l’architecture moderne.
La ville de Royan ayant été en grande partie rasée par les bombardements en 1945, elle a dû être en grande partie reconstruire. Notre-Dame de Royan a été i inaugurée en 1958
